Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji, the Honorable Chancellor of Adichunchanagiri University and 72nd Pontiff of the revered Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math, epitomizes the perfect harmony between distinguished academic achievement and profound spiritual insight. With a Master’s in Engineering from IIT Chennai (Gold Medalist) and a Doctorate in Philosophy from Gulbarga University, Mahaswamiji has dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge, selfless service, and upliftment of society. His unwavering commitment to holistic development is reflected in his leadership of the Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust®, which touches the lives of over 150,000 students across 500+ educational institutions, and in visionary initiatives like Adichunchanagiri University and SAMVIT. Mahaswamiji believes in nurturing well-rounded individuals, equipping them with technical expertise, strong moral values, and a spirit of compassionate service.
A champion for harmonious coexistence of tradition and modernity, Mahaswamiji draws deeply from the teachings of Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Swami Vivekananda, while using his vast knowledge to promote Sanatana Hindu Dharma and holistic education globally. He has delivered discourses at leading universities worldwide, fostering intercultural dialogue and spiritual wisdom. Under his leadership, the Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana stands as a beacon of progressive education, cultural preservation, and societal upliftment. Mahaswamiji’s inspiring vision, combining scientific knowledge with spiritual depth, continues to guide BGS VIPT and all its students toward personal excellence, social responsibility, and a brighter, more connected future.
Dr. Shekar’s career reflects his commitment to compassionate patient care, expertise in medical research, and academic excellence. He established the Apoorva Diabetes Foundation, focused on delivering comprehensive diabetes care, and serves as a founding Diabetologist.
He is also the Director of the Karnataka Institute of Endocrinology & Research and the Dean of the Government Dental College & Research Institute. Dr. Shekar has held several leadership positions, including Director of Medical Education (DME), Director & Dean at Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute, and Head of the Department of Endocrinology at Mysore Medical College & Research Institute, where he made significant contributions to the field.
Dr. Shekar’s contributions extend beyond institutional walls. He has served as an Inspector for the Medical Council of India and a member of esteemed bodies like the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), India. He played a pivotal role in selecting future medical professionals as a Selection Committee Member for UPSC, India. Additionally, he has actively contributed to academic development through his involvement in the Academic Council of RGUHS, Bangalore, and the Governing Council of Yuvaraja’s College, Mysuru.
